Charter Celebration - 30 May

Celebration on the award of the Rotary International Charter to the new Rotary Club of Cober Valley Helston. 6.30 for 7pm, Penmorvah Manor Hotel, Budock Water, near Falmouth.


We held a superb Charter Celebration on Sat 30 May 2009 at Penmorvah Manor Hotel, Budock Water, near Falmouth.

Just under 60 members, invited Rotarians, officials, friends and family members attended.

Special thanks to Sue H for her early assistance with organisation.

Extra special thanks to Barbara for the hard slog to the finish line.

Menu choices:

Starters

  • Roasted Pepper, Tomato & Basil Soup
  • Chicken Liver & Mushroom Parfait, accompanied with crusty bread and Orchard Fruit Chutney

Main Courses:

  • Supreme of Chicken - with a bacon & wild mushroom sauce
  • Braised Cornish Lamb Shank on a bed of creamed mash potato
  • Twice Baked Cheese and Red Onion Souffle served with a Feta, Tomato and Pesto sauce

Desserts:

  • Strawberry Meringues with clotted cream
  • Glazed Lemon Tart with a vanilla cream sauce

Super entertainment was provided by the Falmouth Soul Sensation.

Fatima, the porcelain cow, makes an appearance every month or so at a club meeting. The "winner" from the previous month has to run a short competition to see who keeps Fatima for the following month.

Cornwall's Charity Fashion Show Challenge. A charity Fund raiser in conjunction with the Fishermen's Mission and other Rotary Charities. The challenge is to design a striking and unique outfit sourced from goods from any local charity shop.

Kids in Quito

Working with the Rotary Club of Quito Norte were applying for a Global Grant to support the education and wellbeing of street children in Quito Ecuador. Due to Covid we have scaled this back to a District Grant application.
