Visit of Kim Leadbeater MP.

Mon 5th August Kim visited Batley Community Centre and gave a talk about being an MP in West Yorkshire..
Kim talked about her 3 and half years as Batley and Spen MP and how she got to know Batley well. 
After the boundary changes and the election Kim 
became MP for her new constituency of Spen Valley with lots of towns and villages from Birstall, Birkenshaw, Heckmondwike, Gomersal, Liversedge, Hightown, Mirfield to Kirkburton.( The latter thinking they should be in Huddersfield.)
Kim talked of her new time table of Mon, Tues, Wed, Thursday in Westminster and back to Yorkshire for the weekend having to answer thousands of emails.
She talked of the new Labour Government and its priorities, NHS,Police, Legal matters, and her vision of political education, and financial education in schools. She tries to visit a school every week and be out in the community..
Before the election she was a PPS to Wes Streeting, and now she is a PPS to Lisa Nandy the
Minister for Culture, Media and Sport. Kim says her role is to be the eyes and ears for Lisa Nandy.
Kim also explained her role as a Wip in the new government.
Kim took questions from Luddites and Rotarian Mary gave a vote of thanks to Kim.
