The Club's Nepal Earthquake Appeal

Local Rotarians to help young trafficked and slaved victims affected by the Nepal earthquake.

With a death toll that could reach 10,000, 8 million people affected (UN) the world has responded quickly to provide immediate humanitarian relief.
Working with The Rotarian Action Group Against Child Slavery, the Rotary Club of Stevenage Grange’s is therefore focussing its energies to provide longer term help for known charitable organisations in Kathmandu  
The Club has already identified the need, for example to replace essential furnishing and equipment to get the Maiti Nepal Trafficking, and similar rescue and rehabilitation centres, up and running again. Maiti Nepal  provides rehabilitation, support and education for some 450 young children (mainly girls) rescued from slavery, usually in the sex trade. Update - today (Wednesday) I am advised that this charity will be taking in 200 children orphaned by the earthquake.
The Club will match fund public donations by up to £2,000 from its Disaster Fund. Personal donations, attracting Gift-Aid of 25% can be made through the Club's dedicated MyDonate page. .

Club members and volunteers held a public collection on May 1st at Sainsburys and collected £615
