Clair Dade returned to give us an update on Chelmsford Community Transport. Demand for the service is high. Since Clair’s last visit a seventh minibus has been purchased and a new driver employed. Despite this they are still at full capacity and are looking to acquire another vehicle. They are also expanding the use of car transport outside the City and are working with Broomfield Hospital to assist with transport to Maldon, Braintree, Basildon and Southend Hospitals. The fare is half of the cost of a taxi with the added advantage that the driver can stay and keep the person company. All drivers are DBS checked.
After Clair’s presentation we presented her with a cheque for £1,000 as part of our five-year commitment.
