Technology Tournament

Rotary Technology Tournaments are a challenge and an enjoyable and rewarding experience for those taking part. There are three levels for team members. All costs are paid for by the Rotary Club and there is no entry cost to the school apart from transport to and from the event.

The team of four students have to design, develop, build and test their solution to the task from the materials supplied. Stewards are on hand to guide the student team. The tournament is judged by Rotarians and guests with backgrounds in engineering, technology and design.

Certificates are given to each student. The winning team in each age category is presented with a certificate and trophy.  Technology Tournaments are accredited by The British Science Association so that every participant successfully completing the TT day can apply for a CREST Discovery Award.

The last Technology Tournament was held at The Royal Engineers Museum on Friday 15th March 2019. Five schools competed and Rotarians from several Medway and Maidstone clubs judged and stewarded the event. The prizes were awarded by District Governor Brenda Parson and Sarah Hohler from The Rochester Bridge Trust. Rochester Grammar Schools won the Foundation and Intermediate levels and The Leigh UTC won the Advanced. Well done to everyone who participated and helped to make the day such a success.
