Tommy’s going to the beach!
Back in 2022, Hythe & Waterside Rotary were asked to support a fund-raising event in a Totton restaurant, to raise money for an outdoor buggy for a 5-year-old boy called Tommy. Tommy lives with a very rare condition called CAMK2A which causes rare gene mutations which result in severe neurodevelopmental disorders and affects all aspects of learning. At that time, H&W Rotary helped to promote the event and donated £200 towards the buggy.
Recently H&W Rotary received a Facebook message from Tommy’s mother, Gayle asking for their help again. Tommy is now 7 years old and has never been to the beach as it is such a struggle for his family. The plan now is to for them to purchase special additional wheels for the buggy which will allow them to go “off-road.” They had already received a donation from the Family Fund but needed to raise a further £299 to purchase the special wheels.
H&W Rotary were delighted to help once again and have now made the donation. Hopefully Tommy will soon be enjoying his first trip to the seaside!
