Rotary@Kingsholm identified a need to help Overseas Nurses at Gloucester Royal Hospital familiarise themselves with our local culture, venues and sightseeing as a service we could offer. The objective being to help integration and a better understanding of Gloucestershire.
Overseas Nurses, as they are affectionally referred to, often land on our shores in Gloucestershire as the first journey outside their country of origin. They have little or no knowledge of our country or the glorious county of Gloucestershire. Many are from the Philippines, India, Nigeria, and other locations in Africa and Asia.
To begin with during October 2020 we organized two visits for the newly arrived overseas nurses to see the Gaia exhibit in Gloucester Cathedral. The first outing took place on 13 October and the second outing on 30 October.
Gaia was created by Artist Luke Jerram to communicate the fragility of our planet. Gaia, the original mother earth goddess, is one of the Greek primordial deities
Letters of appreciation were received
Thank you Bernard and Rotary@Kingsholm for all your help arranging and taking our Overseas Nurses to the Gaia exhibition. They have recently arrived in the country and this visit has helped integrate them in to our beautiful county.
