On 1st July, Rotarians all around the world celebrated the start of a brand-new Rotary year, and the celebrations in District 1260 were no exception.
Bright and early at 7:00 am, dedicated club representatives from across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hertfordshire converged to celebrate our annual handover. Whilst some attendees may have been a little sleepy-eyed, everyone received the warmest of welcomes from Jenny Salmon, President-Elect of Hertford Shires, who got the morning off to a fantastic start.
The morning provided a wonderful, relaxed setting of fellowship to extend our massive thanks to the outgoing District team. In particular, the district extends a huge expression of gratitude to Jeremy Wyman for his incredible leadership and dedication as District Governor over the last two years. Jeremy gave an inspiring report on his tenure, reflecting on everything the district has achieved together.
The highlight of the morning was the official District handover, where Kendal Pitt was presented with his chain of office and officially stepped into the role of District Governor.
District Governor Kendal outlined his inspiring mission and goals for the year ahead, and introduced the key District Officers who will be driving the district forward:
District Treasurer: C Ellis
District Secretary: V Benjafield
Membership Lead: Amanda Joseph
The future of District 1260 remains in incredibly safe hands. The official succession plan for the coming years was also laid out during the meeting:
District Governor Elect: Claudio Durran
District Governor Nominee: David Footit
A big thank you to everyone who joined the meeting, including those who wore functional dress so they could head directly to work afterward. It was a brilliant opportunity to network, catch up, and ignite a shared passion for the year ahead.
Here is to a fantastic new year of Service Above Self.
