When Knutsford Medical Partnership decided to undertake the latest vaccination programme at the Community Hospital, Knutsford Rotary Club were asked if they could once again provide the car park marshalling service, as they had throughout 2021. “We felt that another 3 months at the end of 2022 was well within our capability, and a very useful service we could provide to the people of Knutsford” said Tony. “Of course, it would not have been sustainable to attempt the task purely within the resources of Rotary, but when Knutsford Hosts, Catenians, previous supporters of We Are Knutsford and almost all the others who had simply volunteered in 2021, all agreed to join in once more, we knew we could do it again, and help to get Knutsford vaccinated”.
A strange sight awaited patients attending the Knutsford Community Hospital for their Covid and ‘flu vaccines on the last session before Halloween. The Grim Reaper and three wicked witches were on duty to marshal the car park! It was the result of a little email banter between Rotary President, Tony Booth (the Grim Reaper), and (l to r) Sarah Chudley, Fiona Winderam and Helen Brownlie (who had previously marshalled, dressed as Mummy Christmas last December), and shows that we like to have a little fun while volunteering! And we hope we didn’t scare too many patients as they drove into the car park!
The autumn programme (expected to top 5,000 Covid vaccinations – 10,000 if you include ‘flu) is scheduled to continue throughout October, November and December, where marshals expect to clock up around 500 “man-hours” of support. We’ll also be hoping for a little global warming during the winter months.
