Burnturk Jubilee Hall
Following a visit by Willie Lang and his wife to a craft fair at the Burnturk Jubilee Hall he suggested that a committee member might like to come along to a Rotary meeting to talk to the Club members about the Hall and what they were trying to achieve for the local community.
Aileen Neilson and Mary Stewart duly came along to the Club meeting on Tuesday, 3rd December and provided a most interesting history of the Jubilee Hall, which was founded in 1897 and is still going strong. The ladies expanded on the many activities that were held within the Hall including sale of works, children’s parties, coffee & chat, craft days, talks and most surprisingly snail races.
They also spent some time advising our members of their plans for the future and brought along architect’s drawing detailing the proposed development of the site which, if it goes ahead, will cost in excess of £200k.
Willie Lang thanked them for taking the time to talk to our members and advised them that they could seek financial support from the Club via our website by completing an application form for our Community & Young People Fund.
