Members enjoyed an interesting and informative talk from Bob Henderson about uinforgettable characters from his past. We were able to relax from the outset when Bob assured us that he did not plan to mention any of those present in his talk!
As most of us already knew, Bob was educated on the West coast; at Dunoon Grammar School to be more precise. What we didn't know was that the late John Smith, onetime leader of the Labour Party, was a contemporary of Bob's at DGS.
Another weel-kent face who rubbed shoulders with Bob at DGS was former BBC Scotland presenter Mary Marquis.
Lest he might give the impression that this talk was about to degenerate into a name-dropping session, Bob introduced us to Dougal, surname not revealed to protect his hard-won reputation. Dougal was an entrepreneur long before the word became fashionable. His activities cannot be repeated here lest they are not fully covered by the Statute of Limitations.
Come back next year for more revelations.
