Rotary Club of Birstall Luddites
End Polio Now Evening Oct 6th.
Rotarian Robert Jackson led a Club Fund Raising evening raising funds for Polio.
The evening started with Roberts introduction and then onto a Frugal meal.
Big thanks go to Carol and Jeremy plus kitchen staff Rotarians Kathryn and Paul for helping with the buffet .
The frugal meal was enjoyed and Robert introduced Kirklees Mayor Liz Smaje who gave a short talk.
Robert then gave an update of the world situation of Polio giving statistics from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.
Robert thanked Kirklees Mayor Liz for her attendance, and thanked Carol for the Frugal meal soup and
sandwiches supper.
Robert thanked Rotarians Helen and Colin for running the raffle
Robert reported from Jill the sum raised was just under £600. This should be raised to £1800 by
philanthropist Bill Gates.
