Rotary Club of Birstall Luddites
Outside Visit
Twelve of our members paid a visit to the newly refurbished fire station in Birkenshaw.
Since the closure of Cleckheaton Fire Station, Birkenshaw has been renamed Spen Valley Fire Station and covers a wider area than before. The site still houses the regional headquarters and training facility and 'Control' will soon return to the site, (July/August), answering all the local emergency calls using a new state of the art system.
The pictures show Firefighter Dan explaining about all the equipment that is carried in today's modern fire engines, and all but one of the engines at this station are brand new!
A huge thank you to Rtn Robert Jackson for organising the visit and to Fire Officer Dan, for giving us a fantastic tour and sharing his vast knowledge.
