On Monday 7th October 35 Rotarians, partners, friends and visitors gathered for Robert Jackson's PolioPlus frugal meal
fundraising evening.
The evening started with Carol's buffet ,as above , with plenty of sandwiches and second helpings of soup made for an enjoyable meal.

A very big thank you to Jeremy and especially to Carol for making all the buffet food, and help by the kitchen staff .
Ian ran the raffle which made £115 to the evening's fund raising, big thanks to Ian. Past District 1040 DG and District Polio lead Malcolm Tagg
gave an update on the World Wide situation with regard to Polio.
Malcolm spoke of key areas which are Gaza, Pakistan,  Afghanistan and  Africa. He said the Taliban had stopped inoculations in Afghanistan but the Taliban said this was a temporary halt. Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries in the world where polio is endemic as it shares a common border. In Africa the wild polio outbreaks in Malawi and Mozambique are now contained.
In Gaza the first phase of Inoculation was a success  this September.
Malcolm said two and a half billion have been done altogether.
He said the monies now raised are going into delivering the In
noculation now as a patch rather than drops and this is to be in 2028.
Rotary members have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless voluntary hours to protect 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease.

The total raised on the evening was £510 and £115 raffle totalling £625 and this is then multiplied by Bill Gates
and should, by Robert's calculation, come to around £1800.
A big well done to Robert for organising the evening  and thanks to all for attending the evening.
