Rotary Club of Birstall Luddites
Frugal Meal "End Polio Now" Fund raising meeting.
The club had a great night on Mon 5th Sept enjoying a End Polio Now fundraising speaker evening.
31 members and guests enjoyed the speakers, Rotarian Janet Crampton, District End Polio Now lead from Northallerton Mowbray Rotary club.Because of Howley Hall golf clubs overbooking, the move to the Batley Community Centre made a bright good venue and the offer was eagerly taken up by me for ex member Carol Parkinson to cater for us, even at this late stage. Knowing the quality and detail of Carol's food as expected, it was very, very good, the soup super, plenty of tasty sandwiches and crisps, and enjoyed by everyone.
I shall give the attendance and costings details to the club later, suffice to say, because of Carol and Jeremys work and the members support, the amount raised for Polio eradication was £550-00, which strengthened by the Gates Foundation offer means the astonishing total of £1650-00 will be credited to the clubs Polio giving.
Thanking everyone for their support and raffle prizes [organised by Dave]
Regards in Rotary ~ Robert
Big thanks to Robert Jackson for organising the event.
