Rotary Club of Birstall Luddites
Christmas Party Sat Dec 4th 2021 |
Birstall Luddites Rotarians ,fellow Rotarians and friends gathered at Howley Hall Golf Club for their annual Christmas Party, traditional turkey dinner followed by a carol sing song led by
Emley Brass Band Each table picked a carol to sing and finally table by table a rendition of the "12 Days of Christmas" so enjoyable we did it twice, |
The evening was excellently led by Rotarian Jeremy who talked
about the history of this party which went back many years to when his father Raymond first started the idea of carols and a party when he was in the Batley Rotary Club. A raffle raised a very generous sum of over £200 and finally a bottle of Champagne was auctioned and this raised £85. A big thanks to Bill Stephenson of the Cleckheaton RC.(Jeremys father Raymond made this Champagne auction his signature part of the evening) Thanks to Carol for helping with the raffle. After the carols President Nigel thanked everyone for coming and making the post covid event a big success and thanked Emley Brass Band for their continued attendance and stirring brass band music. |
