Rotary Club of Birstall Luddites Community Service
Birstall Luddites Rotarians in the community - what do we do :-

	The Dictionary 4Life Project. The club have taken part in the Rotary Dictionary 4Life project for the last six years. Distributing dictionaries to all local Junior schools. On the schools last assembly the dictionaries are presented to all the school leavers.

This summers Kids Out visited Lightwater Valley The club with Heckmondwike RC contribute to this outing. Twenty pupils and twenty staff from Fairefield School enjoyed a day at Lightwater Valley. Link -Kids Out Fairfield School


Our Environment project in the community is led by Jim Pilkinton in Oakwell Hall Country Park. Tree layering, cutting, burning and other tasks are carried out led by Jim.

	Painting and decorating in Howden Clough Community Center is a project undertaken by Luddites led by Rotarian John Logan.

	Birstall in Bloom Luddites help with work projects around Birstall when required.. This work is led by Rotarian Ian Blamires and Joanna. Rotarian Ian also managed and installed the Birstall Stone sign.

	Santa Sleigh This is the Clubs main winter Community venture. On eight evenings during December we tour local estates, have a presence at Birstall Xmas lights switch on and a day long Tesco collection to raise funds for our good causes.

International. Shelterboxes are an important example of rotary help to world crisis. Birstall Luddites sponsor two students in India with their schooling.
