A talk and a tour of Camden Place after dinner

Remembering Napoleon III
Napoleon III was exiled to England and lived  in Camden Place (now Chislehurst Golf Club)

Chislehurst Rotary Club are hosting Angela Hutton**
to give a talk and a tour of Camden Place after dinner.

** Angela is a semi-retired Management Consultant who has been a social member of Chislehurst Golf Club for over 40 years.
She has spent the last few years researching the history of Camden Place, both the historic and architectural heritage.
Part of that fascinating history is of course the story of Napoleon lll.
As we approach the 150th anniversary of his death in January 2023 she has been sharing that story with interested groups.
  During his lifetime, Napoleon III:

  • Staged 3 coups d'états'
  • Was deported once (to America)
  • Exiled twice
  • Survived 4 assassination attempts
  • Imprisoned twice
  • Started four wars

After a talk about Napoleon III’s journey to Chislehurst, Angela will be joined by two colleagues to take small groups, who are interested, on a tour of the house.
