It isn't all formal meetings and ceremonies at Rotary! There's also a lot of fun to be had and Hythe &
Waterside Rotary are always looking for new ways to spend a social evening together.
A recent evening involved a Taskmaster event, where members had to
use their skills and imagination to deal with a variety of tasks set for them
by two Rotarians, Ian Wheeler and Craig Webber.
Members were randomly put into teams of 3 to carry out the different
task rounds – such as “Suits you sir”, where packs of playing cards had to
be sorted into a specific order, “A nose for trouble”, having to identify
different spices by smell, “Give it a squeeze”, trying to identify objects in
a drawstring bag by feel alone, and “High Tea”, trying to throw tea bags
into a large cup on the floor (it helps if you pop to the washroom and
make them damp!).
A lot of hilarity was involved, especially when teams were asked to produce
a portrait of President Ray Lewis, using different pasta shapes and to use
lego to make something that was relevant to the local area. There were a
lot of strange versions of Hythe Pier and train on display that evening!
