Today we were able to preview the commemorative garden at Gloucester Royal hospital and view the tree we had donated to celebrate our 50 years of Rotary service. The garden was funded through donations to the Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity
This garden commemorates the lives lost to the Covid-19 pandemic here in Gloucestershire and the bravery, compassion and resilience shown by NHS colleagues, carers and key workers who responded so courageously in adversity.
Behind each death was the life of an individual with a family, friends and stories to tell, a life that was being lived; a life that was taken from us. Here in our garden, there memory lives on.
To those who cared for our sick so lovingly in their time of need, thank you.
November sees us planting 1000 crocus corms in the Commemorative Garden at GRH as part of Rotary’s End Polio Now Campaign. The crocuses are a symbol of hope, a reminder of the need to beat the battle against Polio. www.rotarygbi.org/our-causes/end-polio-now
