Hemel Rotary has now supported the building of two Sand Dams in Kenya.
Joining together with a number of Rotary Clubs in the area (and one in Exeter) resulted in our latest one in Mumbani, SE Kenya being completed on the 24th July 2020
A Sand Dam helps remove so many burdens that can weigh heavily on dryland communities. It provides a contant source of water that helps people take charge of their livelihood and give them renewed hope that they can see more reward for their hard work in the future.
We have been advised by the local project supervisors, that the beneficiary population that will have sustainable access to water from the dam is 1,426 (786 females and 640 males).
