Community Projects

Every Rotary Club and every Rotarian assumes a responsibility to find ways to improve the quality of life for those in their communities.

Hemel Rotarians believe in the ethos of "Service above Self" and endeavour to assist the community whenever we can.

DENS was the chosen charity of our President Alan for 2023-2024.

We forged and excellent relationship iwth the DENS team during the year who came to speak to us on a number of occasions. Both our Quiz Night and our Easter Egg Project were to raise funds for their causc.

In total we donated £3800 over the year.

In addition to providing financial support quarterly food bank drives were held which provided a good quantity of much needed food for those in need of assistance.

We also donated £600 to DCT (Dacorum Community Trust) who provide practical support for local people in crisis, acting as a last resort when the assistance they need is not avaiable elsewhere.

With assistance of a Rotary District grant of £500 we donated £1500 to Hert Welcome Refugees. Helping to provide those mere essentials of a kettle and curtains etc.

Our Friendship Cafe and Phoenix Club ceased meeting during COVID and it is now unlikely that they will be reopened. We are however looking into teaming up with CAD to assist in one of their cafes.

We also support other charities and organsations with their fundraising and providing manpower at their events.
