Since 2018 our Club has sponsored a school in Zambia through a charity called Mary's Meals. The idea is so simple. The provision of a hot school meal encourages children to go to school and get an education. To quote from their website
In schools where our daily meals are served, hunger is reduced, attendance improves, drop-out rates fall, absences dwindle, concentration in lessons is heightened, and participation levels increase.
The project leader in our Club is Roger Neuberg, for many years an ambassador / speaker for Mary's Meals giving regular talks to community groups throughout the East Midlands. Roger is also the project leader for our annual Swimarathon which fundraises for Mary's Meals.
In 2018, our first year of sponsoring Kasupe Primary School, there were 266 pupils. Eight years later the school roll has risen to 405. The magnetism of food! Use the link below to read more about this project and please help us to complete our sponsorship for the current school year.
