Young Musician Competition 2016

On Thursday, 10th November 2016 Crieff Rotary Club was delighted to hold its Young Musician Competition for the Thirteenth time - its first having been held in 1991.

A total of 71 pupils from local schools (Ardvreck, Crieff High School, Morrison's Academy and St Dominic's Primary) participated in the Competition which, with the assistance of Morrison's Academy, was held in Ferntower Hall at Morrison's Academy.  Adjudication of the competitors was carried out by Gordon Murch, former Head of Music at Breadalbane High School, Aberfeldy who very kindly gave up a full day to listen to the competitors.

The Competition is split into four sections allowing pupils of all standards to compete against each other - Primary (Grades1/2) / Intermediate (Grades 3/4) / Advanced (Grades 5/6) / Open (Grades 7/8).  Throughout the day there were numerous excellent performances given by the competitors providing Gordon Murch with a difficult job in reaching his decision on a number of occasions.

Rotary Young Musician 2016 - Winners & Runners-up

It was clear throughout the course of the day that those competing gained something from the experience, whether successful or not, which is the whole reason behind the Club's running of the Competition.

Further Competition lies ahead for the overall Winner, Rose Logan of Morrison's Academy who will represent Crieff Rotary Club in the District Final of Rotary's Young Musician Competition which is due to take place in Perth at North Inch Community Campus Auditorium, Gowans Terrace, Perth, PH1 5BF on Saturday, 25th February 2017.

Crieff Club is greatly appreciative of all assistance received in ensuring the running of this event and it looks forward to the next instalment which is due to be held in 2018.
