Discover The Artist 2023

See the full list of artwork and artists involved in this successful exhibition and sale

We would like to thank the artists who donated their time and artwork for this exciting project to exhibit and then sell original artworks in order to raise funds to support community art.

We would also like to thank our generous sponsors, Renishaw, Egypt Mill Hotel & Restaurant, Murrays Estate Agents and Woodchester Valley Vineyard, without whose valuable help we would not have been able to raise so much for local causes.

The Discover the Artist exhibition was held in the Stroud Subscription Rooms on Friday 25th and on the morning of 26th August, and the sale took place in the afternoon of 26th.

In 2018, after our previous Discover the Artist exhibition and sale, we funded an Art Therapy course for people with long term illness; it's still running after a Covid break. We funded an art course for Gloucestershire Young Carers, and provided the art materials for the young people to keep. We also funded exhibitions and community art projects, a website for an artist's project to support art during lockdown, graphics for a historical map in Nailsworth .... and much more.

50% of the profits from this year’s sale will be donated to community art projects and events. This was really successful in 2018 when over £3000 was donated to artists working with the community and to serve our community. We hope to be able to do the same this year.

The event has featured in July's Nailsworth News and also in the August issue of Cotswold Life.
