Supporting Youth in the Community

Nailsworth Rotary Club is active in supporting young people through our Local, District and National competitions such as Young Writer and Young Photographer.

In addition, this year Thrupp School joined us in filling 34 Rotary Shoeboxes which were sent to orphanages and special needs schools in Albania, Romania, Moldova, Montenegro and the Philippines during November. The boxes were distributed in November and early December by Rotary clubs in the countries concerned.

Young Writers

This annual competition is run by Rotary nationally, and schools from all over the UK take part. 

The theme for 2019-2020 was ‘Connections’, and we are delighted that three schools took part for Nailsworth Rotary. The schools involved were, Amberley Parochial School,  Brimscombe C. of E. Primary School and Woodchester Endowed C. of E. (Aided) Primary School. We loved reading all of the entries which are always inspiring; our thanks go to these three schools and their talented children, and all of the children deserve praise for their hard work and wonderful entries.

This year we added certificates for Merit and Personal Achievement to ensure that every child received an award.  The children opt into the competition and it is of course those who are fluent and eloquent writers who are the winners.  Many children struggle and try really hard and we felt that they too should be rewarded for their excellent efforts.

·      Woodchester Endowed C.of E. (Aided) Primary School – Winners: Elsbeth Golding and Joash Jarvis.

Young Photographers

This year the Supersnappers Young Photographer’s Club entered photographs from three young people, and Certificates were presented at the Achiever’s Assembly at Bussage C. of E. Primary School.
