Nailsworth Rotary Club members enjoy supporting our local community, young people, national projects and International initiatives, and these are some of the reason we belong to Rotary. But… if it wasn’t fun it would be a lot more difficult to maintain the enthusiasm and commitment which surrounds our club.
Every couple of years we take off for an ‘away weekend’, we also thoroughly enjoy, wine tasting, skittles, boules, walking, even visiting our ‘twin’ club in Slovenia!
Last October a large group from the club went to the Gower Peninsular, and had a great weekend in a beautiful place - rainbows included! We walked, talked, consumed some wonderful food and enjoyed the odd drink!
During our stay on the Gower Peninsular we visited Mumbles Lifeboat Station and had an incredibly interesting and enjoyable tour. We were so impressed by the tales of rescues and the dedication of the volunteer crews. Our thanks to Paula and Sid Wilkins, and the wonderful staff at the centre, for a truly memorable visit.
A very cold and frosty evening was brightened up by the Wine ‘testing, tasting’ event in Box. 40 members and friends tasted six wines and they all passed the test for excellence. The tasting was blind to ensure we couldn’t guess from the labels the posh from the plonk (although plonk is a little harsh!). As an added bonus Melissa from Woefuldane Organic Dairy showcased a selection of her exceptional cheeses and gave an insightful and extremely interesting talk about the cheeses, farm and shop. Her passion was catching and the cheese just had to be tasted - it was fabulous!
