Nurture garden, Phoenix Park Specialist school

Children thrive when they understand and are nurtured by nature. To allow this our club supports the award-winning school, which helps children aged 4-12, who are experiencing persistent symptoms of a severe clinical disorders such as, AADHD, ODD or other form of psychosis that impact on their learning in school.

Who: The Phoenix park Specialist school, The Rotary Club of Dublin Central and friends of the school support this project.

What: The school developed the first ever ‘Nurture Garden’ for children with Special Educational Needs, which was installed and presented at the Bloom in the Park Festival and won a silver-gilt medal, with high praise for its design and high-level of functionality for these children. The money Rotary raised, helped ensure that the garden was installed at the school so children can now benefit from this important nurturing and take part in outdoor teaching & learning opportunities, from gardening, forest school activities and story time to nurture-based play, a nurture & sensory trail and foraging.

When: The project was implemented in 2019 and delights children since then.

Why: There is no more rewarding work than to help children getting the education they need enabling a better future.

What: Our members go every 2-3 weeks to the school to provide on-hand support to keep the garden as beautiful as it is for the children.
