The War Against Polio

Help Rotary fight the war against Polio and rid the planet of this horrendous disease once and for all

Back in 1979 a Rotarian in the Phillipines had the audacious idea to rid the World of Polio. With a Rotary Foundation Grant Rotarians immunized 4 million children in his home country. In 1985 Rotary adopted this project and the World Polio Eradication Program was born. Since 1985 Rotary has immunized over 500 million children against this horrendous disease. The program has saved 10's millions of young lives and prevented 100's millions from paralysis and deformity.

We are nearly there: from 350,000 cases worldwide a year in 1985 to just and handful in 2024. However like a marathon that last mile is the most difficult and we cannot give up.

We make no bones about it, the costs of the final push are high but everyone in the World needs to take action. Even the smallest donation can save a child from paralysis and deformity.

To help just takes a minute go to https://www.rotarygbi.org/donate/

Whereever you are in the World you can help.

Thank you.
