World War 1 Centeneray Afternoon Tea

Ashby Castle Rotary Club in partnership with North West Leicestershire District Council are delighted to announce details of an event  to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War.

We will be hosting an Afternoon Cream Tea at Ivanhoe School on North Street, Ashby de la Zouch on Saturday 17th November. This event is timed to help mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War on the 11th November 1918. As a sign of respect for the exceptional work that our Armed Forces personnel carry out, all service Veteran’s who apply by the 28th October will qualify for a free ticket for this event.

In addition to the Cream Tea there will be entertainment provided with a live band and renowned singer Jill Daniels will be singing an array of wartime songs and anthems. Guests will be seated at 2pm with the entertainment and cream tea starting soon after with the afternoon timed to finish at around 5pm. We have space to accommodate 130 people for the cream tea and live entertainment. Any free tickets that are not claimed by service Veteran’s by Sunday 28th October will then go on general sale to the public for just £5. All proceeds from ticket sales will then be donated to the Royal British Legion.

Tickets are available by contacting Alan Oakes from Ashby Castle Rotary Club either by phone on 01530 272678 or email at rasgoakes@hotmail.com.
