Projects Ongoing
To continue the past work of developing the garden, with occasional tidy ups and pruning of the beds to maintain its appearance. Keep paving weeds under control. (Helmut)
Use the garden to mark special events during the year e.g., end polio, remembrance day.
* Wilding Gardens and other Green spaces
Continue to encourage club members to set aside part of their garden for wilding to
attract bees, butterflies and other wildlife. Participate in species counts such as the
annual RSPB bird survey and butterfly audit.
continue to be aware of their own carbon footprint e.g., by having a speaker give a talk on the environment at the club.
* Recycling
Encourage recycling in the club, e.g., soft plastics.
Have weekend activities to include those who are working or busy in the week.
New ideas
* Work with local schools on joint environment projects e.g., rain chains. Having fun.
more A number of members from Ashby Castle Rotary Club visited the Leicestershire and Rutland Kelham Bridge nature reserve in Ravenstone. It became clear that security of the site was becoming a problem.
