Bridge of Allan & Dunblane Rotary club held its first Primary School Quiz on Friday 1 March at the Parish chuch hall in Bridge of Allan.

Five teams representing Bridge of Allan, Dunblane, Newton, Queen Victoria and St Mary's schools took part in a very close contest with ten rounds of questions on a diverse range of subjects from environment to religion and spelling. Club member, Peter Hill was MC for the event and quickly put the youngster at ease before starting the quiz.

After 9 rounds Bridge of Allan and Newton were on level pegging with 42 points each with just 5 points separating the other teams. Bridge of Allan secured a win by just 2 points from Newton in the final round.

Commenting on the quiz, organiser Lawrie Orr said 'it's great to see such a turnout of parents, teachers and supporters to cheer their teams along. It was a nail biting finish with every team in contention right to the end. Thanks to all the Rotary members who helped with the arrangements, to the teacher for bringing the schools along today and to the church for the use of the hall but most of all to the youngsters who clearly had a great time and made it such a close contest'

Bridge of Allan now go on to the next round which will be held in the Lesser Albert Hall in Stirling on Saturday 27 April at 2.30pm.
