Out with the Old and in with the New
It was all change at last week's meeting.
Not only was it the Handover when the new President and his team take over the reins, but we also had 2 new members to induct into the Club.
Outgoing President Rod Jones gave a brief review of the highlights of his year, including the addition of 4 new lady members and our first husband and wife team. The events during the year had raised over £30,000 for our various charities and we had made good progress in engaging with the local schools and other community organisations.
The Club welcomed a new husband and wife team, Liz and Charlie Balding from Yorkshire who had moved to the area and transferred from their previous clubs, Keighley and Bradford West respectively. Liz was first to be inducted and was proposed by Graham Russell and inducted by IPP Rod Jones. This was followed by the formal handover to the new team for 2012-13 when President Iain Smith addressed the Club on his plans and hopes for the year ahead.
The second induction then took place with IPP Rod proposing Charlie balding for membership and President Iain got his year off to a good start with a new member on day 1 (day 5 really but who is counting).
When Liz and Charlie first visited some three years ago, Charlie 'forgot' to bring a Club banner with him, and instead gave then President Robert Steele an IOU. The Club therefore presented Charlie (and Liz) with IOU Membership badges which they are shown wearing below.
They were given the official version later, but only after they had paid their annual dues!
President Iain Smith thanked Rod for all his hard work and presented him with his Past President's badge.
