This year's Young Chef Competition was held on Wednesday 18 January, hosted again by Dunblane High School.
Under the watchful eye of Shaune Hall, Chef Lecturer at Forth Valley College, four talented young chefs spent 2 hours preparing two dishes. Before announcing the results, Shaune gave each competitor feedback on their efforts and noted that in the three years he has been involved in this event, the standards had been exceptionally high and made his decision very difficult.
However, first place went to Lisa Brennan from Wallace High, with her dish of roast loin of lamb, spicy couscous and apricot and mint sauce, followed by coconut milk panacotta with poached raspberries and Welsh shortbread biscuit. Holly Cousins, also from Wallace was in second place with Chanel Malcolm and Antonia MacKenzie from Dunblane High as runners up. Lisa will now travel to Dundee to compete in the District heat in early February.
Club President Rod Jones complimented all the young chefs on their dishes and thanked them for their efforts. He also thanked Sheila Nairn for allowing the use of the excellent facilities, Shaune Hall for his judging and helpful advice and Club member John Kilby who had organised the event.
