May speaker is Janet Warn, Janet is a member of the Fairfield Moravian Church in Droylsden, Tameside, Greater Manchester, and is coming to talk about the long history of the Fairfield Moravian Settlement estabished in 1785 in Fairfied, Droylesden. It was founded in 1785 by Benjamin La Trobe as a cente for their Prostestant Evangelistic work. Predating the Luthsrian movement by about 100 years. They fled their origin after being persecuted by the Czech Republic more than 200 years ago. it was planned and built by its own people with an Inn,, Shop, bakery, farm, laundry, fire engine and night watchman, an inspector of weights snd measures, overseer of roads, and even its own physician.
Should be a fascinating talk and is an area of significance to Barbara Kirkham who was brought up there !
