August Out Visit

Club members please log in for more information.

To confirm the plan for Secret Garden and Hall visit the provisional itinary is:-

11-11.30 meet at the 508 cafe at the Park entrance or if in cars at the Courtyard Offices car park, accessed left off Mr Mans drive.

As long as the number of cars is not many we should be able to park there free. This will assist any mobility or picnic kit problems.

We will have a tour of the garden which will take about an hour and half. The tour takes in the Head Gardeners cottage, the Cucumber Pit House, main production gardens, slip gardens and bothys. There is a plan to look into the ice house (next to Mr Mans car park), which has never been public viewed before. Garden access will be I hope be wheelchair and mobility friendly.

We will then have a lunch time picnic. Bring your own food and drink, although tea making is available as are toilets and hand washing. There is garden seating and tables. If wet, we can go into the Head Gardeners Cottage and spread out over several rooms.

Anyone can join in. There will be a tour fee of £5 each as charity funding for the garden.

In the afternoon (about 2pm-4pm) A limited group of not more than 20 can have a spooky tour of the nooks and crannies of Wollaton Hall. Peter Forster who gave us a talk is our guide (he worked in the Hall). He has been given special permission for this to get all the keys....You have to have good mobility as many steps are involved - visiting cellars, secret passages and roof spaces not normally seen...

Again the fee will be £5 each to go towards some garden provision to be designated by the Hall Manager.
