What a scorching hot day it was and we had to play golf too. This year we were raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK, plus local charities. Thirty one teams were welcomed by Malcolm Darroch, on the reception desk, assisted by Pam and Martin Miles to start the groups on their way, at the 1st tee.
The course was in great condition but many, who hit wild shots, had to search for their golf balls in the long grass. Not an enviable job in the intense heat. Welcome relief was at the halfway point where the golfers enjoyed a drink and a butty, served by David Pedlar. The raffle ticket sellers did a great job raising money from the  golfers, to help the cause.
Having completed their rounds the golfers tucked into the carvery meal and  enjoyed a welcome drink at the bar.
The winning teams were, 1st Wilson staff, 2nd Fernwood Academy, 3rd AMS  Hayley 3.
Although the final account is yet to be agreed, it is expected that over £3,000 will be raised from the event. Our thanks go out to all those who assisted and played, and to the President, Graham Hayes, for presenting the prizes.
Next year the 13th annual Golf day will be on the 5th July 2019.
