To note, one patient had a very high reading, this is currently under active monitoring by their GP and  essential medication to take in such an event had been prescribed. One young man was found to require a routine review, however, their father had suffered a stroke two weeks previously.

 Comments and conclusions

The event was considered to be a great success and the clinicians were kept busy taking readings and providing advice and information leaflets on Stroke prevention as required. Members of the public were eagerly waiting for the event to start and the first readings were taken at 09.55.

More ladies opted to have their blood pressure measured during the day.  One young man has currently run several full and 24 half marathons on behalf of the Stroke association this year, his final run will be the Robin Hood Marathon in September.

Wollaton Park Rotary club is the chosen charity for Circle Nottingham and team members from the Treatment centre supported the event and found it to be a very positive experience.Special thanks to the staff at Waitrose who made us feel very welcome, the team from Circle Nottingham and to the team of health professionals and marshals either directly or indirectly linked with Wollaton Park Rotary club.
