This year's 17th Swimathon, organised by Sidmouth Rotary Club was in aid of 1st Sidmouth Guides, 1st Sid Vale Scout Group and the Rotary Christmas Appeal.
Fifteen teams competed over the four hour period with each team having fifty minutes of lane swimming. All ages and skill levels were represented with some very impressive results being turned in. The youngsters in the Surf Lifesaving Teams and the Scouts did particularly well closely followed by one of the Golf Club Teams but the undoubted star team of the evening was Team Marlin from Surf Lifesaving who turned in 140 lengths with only 4 swimmers.
Everyone who took part had a great time with thanks being extended to the Rotary Club organisers and to the LED Swimming Pool lifeguards.
The Rotary Club organiser Simon Wood praised everyone who took part, and for giving up their Saturday evening for such a good cause.

At an award ceremony at the Victoria Hotel on 13 March'24, Angela Carney was declared Citizen of the Year 2023. Angela was presented with a certificate by Sidmouth Rotary President, Vic Clarke and Cllr Chris Lockyear, Chair of Sidmouth Town Council.
