Santa, together with Clitheroe and Ribblesdale Rotary Clubs, and Clitheroe Round Table raised a record £10,500 during two weeks of touring the streets of Clitheroe and surrounding villages over a two week period. Another five days were spent by Santa and his helpers at local supermarkets and Clitheroe Market. Children, parents and grandparents took the opportunity to take selfies with Santa to kickstart their Christmas festivities. Many parents told us that they really treasure Santa's traditional visit to their street, and remember his visits from when they were children.
Rotary would like to thank the Scouts and all the non Rotarians that helped with the collection buckets. Santa is always looking for new helpers, so If you would like to volunteer to help in the future, even for just one evening, please get in touch.
We would also like to thank the children of St. James's and St. Michael and John's Primary Schools, who helped us provide around 200 shoe boxes to children in Ukraine via International Aid Trust. The children, together with Rotarians, and other organisations, that sent their shoeboxes via Rotary, put together boxes containing items for boys and girls of all ages. If your school would like to get involved in the future, please get in touch.
Our annual four day collection took place at Booths supermarket, Clitheroe, raising a record £1,650 thank you to all for your generous donations.
Our thanks to Booths, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Pendle Club for allowing Rotary to make use of their premises.
Also to Ribble FM and Clitheroe Neighbourhood Watch for helping with publicity.
A Happy new Year to all from Rotary!
