Each year Clitheroe rotary invites young people between the ages of 5 and 11 to explore their creativity in the Young Artist and Young Writer Competitions. This year's theme is 'Happiness is Nature' and the winning entries are showcased a the Trinity Community Hub, along with those who receive Highly Commended awards.
There are three winners overall for each category, who will will be awarded prizes by Clitheroe Rotary. However, every entrant for the competitions, will receive a gift of a plant from Holden Clough Nurseries.
Entries were coordinated by staff at the three schools who took part, so thank you to: Barrow URC Primary School, Bolton-by-Bowland CE Primary School and St. Michael & St. John's RC Primary School, Clitheroe.
A big thank you to esteemed local artist John Rotherham for judging the art entries and to the Clitheroe Rotarians who judged the poems.
Huge thanks to Rotarian John Foley of Holden Clough Nurseries, who has also recently created a Japanese garden as part of the Trinity Eco Garden, with Trinity Methodist Churche's Youth Group. The Eco Garden (last year awarded Gold by A Rocha, a Christian conservation charity in the UK) is used by many different children's groups at Trinity Community Hub, including the Brownies,Guides, Scouts and The Creation Station.
