Clitheroe Rotary held its Annual Charity Golf Day at Clitheroe Golf Club to raise funds for its usual major beneficiaries, namely East Lancashire Hospice and North West Air Ambulance and the Clitheroe Rotary Charitable Fund on the 18th May.
168 people took part in this very successful and popular event, which consistently appeals to golfers of all ranges of ability. First estimates indicate that approaching £11,500 should have been raised through the generosity of the players, sponsors and other donors as well as the support of the Golf Club.
The winning team of the main competition was entered by Clitheroe Golf Club member Warren Cahill on behalf of City Glass Manchester and a team entered by the main sponsors of the day, GDH Campervans, won a subsidiary competition and various individuals won on-course prizes.
Many raffle prizes and auction items had been donated and as a result the sum raised is a record for the event.
The Golf Club management and members have been so supportive of the event over recent years that one of the smaller charities to benefit from the Golf Day is The Fiona Foundation, a charity which the Captain of the Golf Club, John Green, is supporting throughout his year in office.
Many other local charities and community organisations in need of support will also benefit from the day and from Clitheroe Rotary’s other fund raising activities over the course of the next twelve months.
