On Yer Bike
Sunday 1 July 2018
Welcome to the 15th annual Anglesey On Yer Bike event organised by the Rotary Clubs of Holyhead and Llangefni. Funds raised this year go equally to The British Heart Foundation and the Coronary Care Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd.
This is a fun event designed to encourage riders to get on their bikes and into the beautiful Anglesey countryside either as individuals, groups of friends or like minded cyclists.
The event takes place mainly on the minor roads in rural Anglesey and three routes are marked out with directional finger posts and 4 checkpoints to monitor riders progress. The short family route along Lon Las Cefni is 14 miles, the middle route is 26 miles and the longest route is 52 miles. The longer ride is named as 'Reid Rens or Rens Ride' in memory of Reynold Thomas while the 26 mile ride is named ‘Sportîf Steve’ or ‘Steve’s Sportif in memory of Steve McGuinness, both regular cyclists in the event since its inception.
All the rides start and finish at the Llangefni Rugby Club and all riders have to enter and check in there before starting and again on their return. The start time is 0900 onwards and all riders are expected to have finished the rides by 1500.
Full details of the routes are given to all riders when they check in.
