Happy Birthday to Rtn. Bob Bateman

Torrington Rotary celebrated Bob's milestone birthday in April, with gifts and a wonderful cake from Torrington Golf Club.

In April we celebrated Bob Bateman's 90th (delayed from 2021 due to covid) and 91st birthdays at Torrington Golf Club (who kindly made the delicious strawberry sponge cake).

Gifts, including a framed archival photograph, were presented and we learnt of Bob's early years when teaching at Great Torrington School from David Nainby, who'd been Head Teacher.  Apparentlhy no day started without the ritual coffee and 'yarn' ... which still holds true.

Bob has been an integral part of our club for many years, working on all committees and most recently with the Youth team to run Young Chef and Young Photographer competitions.  The photos show one of the gifts, and Bob, centre stage, at this President's Night at Beaford House.
