Community Service

The Community Committee of Torrington Rotary works on mainly local projects aimed at supporting those who live in our town and surrounding villages.

The projects we have been involved in have varied from installing defibrillators on the Tarka Trail & at the Golf Club to providing new seating for Torrington Library and helping fund the new hanging baskets in the Pannier Market and new plants in Sidney House gardens.   We've also run the 'Wrap Up'  scheme for the past 2 winters, providing good coats to those in need  (see below).    Since our club first started, we've raised over £500,000 to donate to many charities, locally and overseas.

We're also at the Torrington Pannier Market... come and visit our Torrington Rotary stall where you can find out more about our club from our President Martyn Butler, and maybe have a go on the tombola! 

The photos above are from our meeting in January 2026, when guest speaker Ang told us about Torrington's Climate Change Room, and our March meeting when cyber crime expert Mick Harrison gave a brilliant talk on how to protect our online presence. 

Torrington Library & The Bickford Centre join us in  ‘WRAP UP’ Project

Our lovely Torrington library will have a rail again this year with pre-loved, good winter coats for those in need.  It’s part of a Rotary UK-wide project that Torrington Rotary has joined, to collect good coats that are no longer worn and redistribute them to those who need one.   Please come along to the library and take a coat if you need one.  DONATED COATS  Please leave these in the collecting box at THE BICKFORD CENTRE.  Our collection is for MENS’ WOMENS’ AND CHILDRENS COATS.
