Youth Service

Supporting our young people has always been very important to Torrington Rotary.    Generally we do this by assisting the local schools in competitions, but we also work with Torriyouth and charitable organisations in north Devon.

Rotary Great Britain & Ireland organises several youth competitions and many, such as Young Chef, Young Writer, Young Musician etc., are run in conjunction with our local Great Torrington Academy.   In 2025 we were delighted to support the Young Apprentice scheme-  the photo above shows Torriyouth lead Paula Fuller and Young Apprentice  Lillyanna during their visit to our club in January.

Some of the charitable organisations that we have supported are Torriyouth,  Children's Hospice Southwest,  Share Music Southwest,  the Calvert Trust,  Children's Holiday Foundation and Appledore Book Festival, to name just a few.

YOUTH COMPETITIONS FOR 2025/2026 -  Great Torrington School is partnering with Torrington Rotary club to hold various Youth Competitions in the coming months.   If you are interested in entering a competition (Young Photographer, Young Artist, Young Writer),  please contact Louise Leonard at Great Torrington School,  or Rotary club member Pat Grimwood-Taylor if you don't attend GTS.    There are different age groups and entry is free.   Winners will go forward to the North Devon area and then UK Rotary competitions.
