Tue 25th June 2024 Tavish Tares - our Scout in South Korea

Last year, we helped sponsor Tavish to attend the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea. Tonight he was to have told how he got on, despite the heatwave and the mass evacuation. THIS MEETING HAD TO BE CANCELLED - see next item.

Tue 25th June 2024 The Ness Viaduct collapse - 35 years on

At the Meadow Inn we had a fresh opportunity to learn about the collapse on 7th February 1989 of Joseph Mitchell's magnificent viaduct over the River Ness, and about the work done to replace it by 9th May 1990.

Tue 18th June 2024 Club Assembly and 'Handover'

At the Meadow Inn, President Bob will be handing over to himself to continue as our noble President for yet another year. Vice President Callum will be doing the same in his role and will present a short, illustrated review of 2024 to date.

Sat 15th June 2024 Static Cycle challenge for Prostate Cancer

At Crieff's Co-Op on Town Green, our annual challenge for members of the public to donate to Prostate Cancer Scotland and guess how far Rotarians can pedal in 4 hours.

At the Meadow Inn, we will meet our two entrants for RYLA 2024 - Ailish Headington and Andrew Grant. We will be wishing them well for their forthcoming adventures at Abernethy on Speyside.

We met, on line, the hard-working Rev’d Picklen Chafulumira from Zomba Presbytery who updated us on emerging costs for 'our' maize mill - first proposed by the Club in 2019. A new location is being sought.

Our intrepid IPP, Chris Dowse, will tell us about his 2023 walk around Wales when he raised around £17,000 for Blood Cancer UK.

At the Meadow Inn, the previously scheduled speaker had to withdraw and instead our President gave us an illustrated talk about the largest Buddhist monastery in Europe.

Tue 23rd April 2024 Future of Crieff Rotary

Starting 35 mins later than usual, at the Meadow Inn our President led what should have been an important debate on the future of our Club, in the light of its diminishing membership numbers - but only five members bothered to turn up!

Tue 23rd April 2024 Heart of Gold Rose Garden

A small work party of Rotarians collected and laid donated wood bark and weeded the rose garden in MacRosty Park. Dinner afterwards was at the Meadow Inn (at 7.05pm).

Rowan Haines won the RGBI Final at Alcester today!

Tue 16th April 2024 Rowan Haines - our culinary hero

Young Rowan won the Scottish Final of the 2024 Rotary Young Chef competition and is going to the RGBI final in Alcester on Saturday. At the Meadow Inn we will present him with his Scottish winner's certificate, his new chef's jacket and our best wishes.

We had been offered a large supply of bark and, as the bed required urgent weeding, a small work-party was needed - but forecasted bad weather led to a postponement.

Wed 20th March 2024 Crieff Rotary - Primary School Quiz 2024

Our annual fun event involved ten teams from five primary schools across Strathearn (Madderty could not attend this year). Was won by St. Dominic's P7, with Crieff P6 second and Morrison's Academy P6 third.

At the Meadow Inn. The 2023/24 AGM completed the necessary appointments for 2024-25 following last November's SGM. The Business meeting included final briefings ahead of the following day's PSQ.

At the Meadow Inn, our President told us about this infamous fire which was used by Hitler to gain absolute power in Germany for the next 12 years. This talk replaced the scheduled one, postponed by the illness of our speaker.

At the Meadow Inn, Mark Hunter (Chair of FOCC) updated us on progress and suggested ways in which Crieff Rotary might help restore this iconic and respected area of our town.

Partners Evening at Meadow Inn. Heavy snow meant that Tavish Tares, our sponsored Scout, could not safely travel from his home in Bankfoot so the meeting just became a friendly meal for Crieff-based Rotarians.

At the Meadow Inn, popular author Bruce Keith returned for a third time to tell us about his latest book. He previously introduced 'Bridgescapes' and 'Are we nearly there, yet' to us.

At the Meadow Inn, our four Crieff High School participants, Kathryn, Felix, Findlay and Marley told us most amusingly how they got on at the Abernethy Adventure Centre on Speyside in July.

Thu 9th November 2023 Rotary Young Chef competition

At the Strathearn Community Campus, this was the first round of the 2023-24 RIGBI competition involving candidates from Morrison's Academy and Crieff High School. The event was won by Rowan Haines from Crieff High School.

Tue 24th October 2023 World Polio Day 2023

We were hoping to raise awareness of the continuing fight against ever letting polio back into our world by walking a sponsored mile on a circuit from/to the Meadow Inn via MacRosty and Sauchie parks - and over £178 was raised!

We played at home against the Rotary Clubs of Blairgowrie and Pitlochry. Aberfeldy RC withdrew from the contest which was won by Blairgowrie RC.
