Children in Need Heathrow Collection 2017

On 17 November no less than a record 26 Rotary Club of Princes Risborough members and ten Interactors from Princes Risborough School gave up their much needed beauty sleep for an early start to the day and braved a cold and frosty morning to man two shifts at London Heathrow Terminal 5 from 06.00 to 10.00.

Their aim was to help collect some £40,000 by local Rotary clubs for Pudsey from passengers using Heathrow’s terminals and contribute significantly to the more than £50 million raised nationwide on the day. The Risborough Rotarians reward was twofold: first knowing that every penny collected (not to mention euros, US and Australian dollars, Rands and even Renminbi) went to a very good cause; but also enjoying a good full English to set them up for their day! Not only that but they also all enjoyed themselves enormously chatting with donors as they passed through the airport terminal. RCPR has become the Rotary Club of choice for manning early morning shifts at T5 for BBC Children in Need and all involved are looking forward to repeating the exercise again in 2018.
