What is RYLA?

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a training programme for leaders and potential leaders between 16 and 18 years of age. As a RYLA participant, you will attend a fully sponsored five night course, together with other talented young people, like yourself.

Whether you are a student or have started work, RYLA will provide a memorable, enjoyable and unique opportunity to learn and develop. The course will provide you with the chance to improve your leadership and communication skills through a series of challenging, practical and theoretical tasks.

You will be part of a team. You will tackle some exciting, confidence building exercises to enable you to develop your self esteem. Activities include a ropes course, canoeing, climbing, caving, abseiling and orienteering. The programme is carefully structured so that activities are backed by theory. You will set your own objectives and your progress will be reviewed throughout the course.

Your RYLA course will be held at The Dean Field Studies Centre in The Forest of Dean
