A Cheque for £5000
Presented to the
Croydon Hearing Resource Centre
Mary Saunders, a trustee of the Croydon Hearing Resources Centre (CHRC) for the past seven years, attended to receive a cheque for £5,000 as it was the designated charity of the 2017-18 President Peter Spalding. Mary (centre) is pictured with Peter and the current President Lorraine Davis.
Mary has suffered with deafness for 20 years and when she worked in Taberner House used the services of CHRC, located nearby.
The charity CHCR helped 2,500 people last year in Croydon. It holds clinics in various places in the Borough for maintenance of tubing and batteries for hearing aids. This takes the pressure off University College Hospital. In addition, it organises screenings, counselling and social groups. It currently is in St George's Walk but will need to re-locate in September as the premises have been taken over by a developer.
